The short version

We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us, through the contact form on this site or by emailing us directly. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else unless you have agreed otherwise. We set no cookies, we run no analytics or tracking on this website, and we never sell personal information.

What we collect, and why

The contact form. When you use the form on this site we receive your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, the type of enquiry you select, and your message. We use this to respond to your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or taking steps you have asked for ahead of a contract for trade enquiries.

The consent tick box. If you tick the box saying you are happy to receive emails from us, we record that consent and may send you relevant emails. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe option in any message we send. If you leave the box unticked, we only use your details to answer your enquiry.

Job applications. If you contact us about working here, we use the information you provide to consider your application. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering an employment contract.

Direct email and phone. If you email one of the addresses on this site or call us, we use your details to handle whatever the correspondence is about.

What we do not do

• We set no cookies on this website, and we use no analytics or advertising trackers.
• We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
• We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
• This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect children's data through it.

Where your information is processed

This website is hosted by Netlify, which receives and stores contact form submissions on our behalf. Netlify is a US company and processing may take place outside the UK, protected by appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses.

Our email runs on Microsoft 365, so anything you send us by email is stored there.

This site loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. No other information is shared with Google, and no Google cookies are set.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and no longer than two years unless we are trading with you or the law requires longer. Unsuccessful job application details are kept for up to twelve months and then deleted. Consent records are kept while the consent remains active.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email support@idealdirect.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
